While at its inception Halloween was something of a religious holiday, in this day and age, it’s more of an occasion for children to break their curfew and prowl around in the dark streets filled with skeletons, mummies, vampires, and all kinds of monsters…without forgetting the candy. However, many parents forget that children also take a lot of joy out of participating in different kinds of Halloween crafts, and so here are a couple of ideas which you can use to get your kids involved in more or less original activities.

Personalized Pumpkin Bag

Personalized candy bags are some of the most popular Halloween crafts, mainly because the kids are actually making something that they are going to be using to make sure they get that late night sugar rush the parents dread so much. What follows is a quick and easy way to make a candy pouch which looks like a pumpkin.

To put together a personalized candy bag that looks like a pumpkin, you will need an orange felt square measuring somewhere around twelve to sixteen inches per side. You will then need a plate measuring somewhere between ten and thirteen inches in diameter, a long ribbon of any color (although green is the recommended one), scissors and a pencil.

To make the bag, simply place the plate on the felt and place marks about one inch away from the plate using the pencil, making sure they are about two inches apart from each other. Fold the felt over the plate and then snip each and every one of the marks using the pair of scissors, making a series of slits through which you will need to slide the ribbon. You can then decorate the orange felt with whichever materials you like in order to make it look like a pumpkin (or anything else really, as long as your kids like it). Finally, tie the ribbon ends together and that’s all there is to it: your child can now wear a custom-made candy pouch around his or her neck, safekeeping all the sweets earned after a long and productive night of terrorizing the neighborhood.
